Unexpected machine movement can cause injury or death. Activate the parking brake if an adjustment must be made with the engine running. Allow only approved personnel on the machine. Keep other personnel off the machine and in clear view of the service personnel. |
- Disconnect rod (9) and spring (10) from lever (11). Adjust housing (5) in order to obtain a lever force at knob (2) of 30 ± 4 N (6.74 ± .9 lb).
Note: Knob (2) should not move more than 30 mm (1.2 inch) while the setting for the lever force is performed.
- Move governor control lever (2) to the HIGH IDLE position and install spring (10) .
- Move governor control lever (2) to the vertical position. Adjust stop bolt (3) so that the bolt contacts the governor control lever. Back off stop bolt (3) by one turn and lock in place.
- Position lever (6) on the splined governor shaft to angle (8) which is the SHUTOFF position. The SHUTOFF position is 35 degrees ± 5 degrees to the rear of vertical.

Note: The splined governor shaft must be in the SHUTOFF position before lever (6) is placed in position on the shaft.
- Adjust rod (9) in order to obtain a free fit of the coupler on the rod, the two rod ends, and lever (11). Tighten the jam nuts to a torque of 14 ± 4 N·m (124 ± 35 lb in).
- Start the engine and move the governor control lever to the HIGH IDLE position. At the correct high idle rpm (2370 rpm), adjust high idle stop bolt (4) so that the bolt contacts governor control lever (2). Back off stop bolt (4) by one turn and lock in place.
