Assembly Procedure

1. Clean all of the parts. Inspect the parts for wear and for damage. Replace damaged parts or worn parts, as needed. Put clean oil on all of the seals.

Do not mix any of the components between the valve groups. Keep each valve group and the components for the valve separate from the other valves.

2. Assemble manifold (7) in the following manner:

   1. Install spool (84), spring (85), and dowel (86) in the manifold.

   2. Install plug (83) in manifold (7). Tighten the plug to a torque of 70 ± 7 N·m (52 ± 5 lb ft).

3. Assemble lift control valve (8) in the following manner:

   1. If the seals were removed, install new seals in each end of valve body (58) .

   2. Install O-Ring seals on plug (82) and install the plug in valve body (58). Tighten the plug to a torque of 70 ± 7 N·m (52 ± 5 lb ft).

   3. Install the O-Ring seals on valve (81) and install the valve in valve body (58). Tighten valve (81) to a torque of 14 ± 2 N·m (124 ± 18 lb in).

   4. Install the O-Ring seals on seat (79). Put ball (80) in position in the valve body and install seat (79). Tighten the seat to a torque of 14 ± 2 N·m (124 ± 18 lb in).

   5. Put retainer (74), spacer (76), spring (75), and retainer (77) in position on spool (73) and install shaft (78). Tighten shaft (78) to a torque of 8 ± 1.5 N·m (71 ± 13 lb in).

   7. Position O-Ring seal (64) and detent housing (65) on valve body (58) .

   8. Install spring (67), ball (68), and six balls (69). Depress ball (68) and install detent piston (66) .

   9. Grease balls (69), ball (68), and detent piston (66). Tighten bolts (71) to a torque of 11 ± 2 N·m (97 ± 18 lb in).

   10. Position filter (63), guard (61), and retainer (62) on valve body (58). Install bolts (60) and tighten to a torque of 5.5 ± 1.5 N·m (49 ± 13 lb in).

   11. Install the O-Ring seals and the backup ring on relief valve (59). Install relief valve (59) on valve body (58). Tighten the relief valve to a torque of 70 ± 7 N·m (52 ± 5 lb ft).

   12. Install the O-Ring seal on plug (54). Put spring (57), spring (56), and valve (55) in position on valve body (58). Tighten the plug to a torque of 70 ± 7 N·m (52 ± 5 lb ft).

4. Assemble valve (6) in the following manner.

   1. If the seals were removed, install new seals in each end of valve body (37) .

   2. Put the O-Ring seals in position on valve (53) and install the valve in valve body (37). Tighten the valve to a torque of 14 ± 2 N·m (124 ± 18 lb in).

   3. Install the O-Ring seal on seat (51). Put ball (52) in position in the valve body and install seat (51). Tighten the seat to a torque of 11 ± 2 N·m (97 ± 18 lb in).

   4. Put retainer (49), spring (48), retainer (47), and spacer (46) in position of spool (50) and install bolt (45). Tighten the bolt to a torque of 11 ± 2 N·m (97 ± 18 lb in).

   5. Install spool assembly (42) in valve body (37). Put housing (43) in position on the valve body and install bolts (44). Tighten bolts (38) to a torque of 11 ± 2 N·m (97 ± 18 lb in).

   6. Put filter (41), guard (39), and retainer (40) in position of valve body (37) and install bolts (38). Tighten bolts (38) to a torque of 5.5 ± 1.5 N·m (49 ± 13 lb in).

   7. Install O-Ring (33) on plug (32). Put spring (35), spring (36), and valve (34) in position on valve body (37) and install plug (32). Tighten the plug to a torque of 70 ± 7 N·m (52 ± 5 lb ft).

5. Assemble control valve (5) in the following manner.

   1. If the seals were removed, install new seals in both ends of valve body (14) .

   2. Install O-Ring seals and the backup ring on relief valves (31). Install the relief valves in valve body (14). Tighten the relief valves to a torque of 70 ± 7 N·m (52 ± 5 lb ft).

   3. Put the O-Ring seals in position on valve (30) and install the valve in valve body (14). Tighten the valve to a torque of 14 ± 2 N·m (124± 18 lb in).

   4. Install the O-Ring seal on seat (28). Put ball (29) in position on valve body (14) and install seat (28). Tighten the seat to a torque of 14 ± 2 N·m (124 ± 18 lb in).

   5. Put retainer (26), spring (25), retainer (24), and spacer (23) in position on spool (27). Compress spring (25) and install bolt (22). Tighten the bolt to a torque of 11 ± 2 N·m (97 ± 18 lb in).

   6. Install spool assembly (21) in valve body (14). Put housing (20) in position on the valve body and install bolts (19). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 11 ± 2 N·m (97 ± 18 lb in).

   7. Put filter (18), guard (16), and retainer (17) in position on valve body (14) and install bolts (15). Tighten bolts (15) to a torque of 5.5 ± 1.5 N·m (49 ± 13 lb in).

   8. Install the O-Ring seal on plug (10). Put spring (13), spring (14), and valve (11) in position in valve body (14). Tighten the plug to a torque of 70 ± 7 N·m (52 ± 5 lb ft).

   9. Install studs (3) in manifold (6) .

   10. Install O-Ring seals (4) in the manifold and in valves (5), (6), and (8) .

   Note: Be sure that shims (9) are in position between the manifold and all of the valves.

   11. Install valves (5), (6), and (8), and shims (9) on studs (3) .

   12. Put cover (1) in position on the studs and install nuts (2). Tighten the nuts to a torque of 27 ± 5 N·m (20 ± 4 lb ft).

End By: Install the bulldozer control valve.
