Air Inlet Heater - Remove and Install

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Connect the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Disconnect electrical connector (1) .

  1. Remove fuel line (2) from inlet manifold (3) .

  1. Install the plug and the cap to the air inlet heater.

Installation Procedure

  1. Remove the plug and the cap to the air inlet heater. Tighten the air inlet heater to a torque of 31 ± 8 N·m (23 ± 6 lb ft).

  1. Install fuel line (2) to inlet manifold (3). Tighten the fuel line to a torque of 6 ± 2 N·m (4.4± 1.5 lb ft).

  1. Connect electrical connector (1) to the air inlet heater.

End By: Separate the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
