Installation Procedure


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Use a suitable lifting device, as shown. Apply slight tension to the suitable device.

  1. Install the engine and pumps to the machine. The weight of the engine and pumps is 590 kg (1300 lb).

  1. Install the washers and the bolts (84) to the engine. Tighten the bolts for the torque of 240 ± 40 N·m (177 ± 30 lb ft). Weight of the engine and pumps is 590 kg (1300 lb).

  1. Connect line (83) to the piston pump.

  1. Install two flange halves (82) and line (81) to the piston pump.

  1. Remove washers and four bolts (80) .

  1. Connect lines (79), (78), and (77) .

  1. Install line (76) to the piston pump and two flange valve (75) with four bolts and washers (74) .

  1. Connect two lines (73) and line (72) to the implement pump.

  1. Install two tubes (71) and (70) to the implement pump. Install eight bolts (69) to the implement pump.

  1. Install lines (68) and (67) to the engine.

  1. Install flange valves (66) to the implement pump.

  1. Install four bolts (65) to flange valves.

  1. Connect lines (64) and (63) to the piston pump.

  1. Install throttle cable (62) to the engine. Tighten nut (61) to throttle cable.

  1. Install spring (60) and nut (59) to the throttle linkage.

  1. Replace electrical wires (58) on the engine. Tighten the straps and wires (58) to the engine..

  1. Connect connector (57) to the hydraulic pump.

  1. Plug two wires (56) and (55) .

  1. Connect two connectors (54) .

  1. Connect wire (53). Install the wire and nut (52) .

  1. Install the wire assembly and nut (51) to the starter.

  1. Install the ground wire and bolt (50) to the starter.

  1. Connect wire assembly (48) to starter (49) .

  1. Connect the wire assembly and install nut (46) to the alternator.

  1. Connect wire assembly (47) to the alternator.

  1. Connect wire (45) to the engine.

  1. Install guard (44). Install washers (43) and three bolts to guard (44).

  1. Install guard (42). Install washers and two bolts (41) to guard (42) .

  1. Install three washers and bolts (40) to guard (41) .

  1. Install panel (39) to the engine. Install two washers and bolts (38) to panel (39) .

  1. Install ground wire (37). Install the washer and nut (36) to ground wire (37).

  1. Install plate (35). Install two washers and bolts (34) to plate (35).

  1. Install battery holder (33). Install three washers and bolts (32) to the battery holder.

  1. Install guard (30). Install three washers and bolts (31) to the front guard (30). Install four washers and bolts (29) to the top guard (30), as shown.

  1. Install wire (28). Install two washers and bolts (27).

  1. Install guard (26). Install five washers and bolts (25) to guard (26).

  1. Install plastic clip (24). Install two washers and bolts (23) to plastic clip (24) .

  1. Install hose (22) to the engine. Tighten two clamps (21) to the hose.

  1. Install exhaust pipe (20). Install three washers and bolts (19) to exhaust pipe (20).

  1. Install two washers and bolts (17) to bracket (18) .

  1. Install two washers and bolts (16) to the bracket.

  1. Install hose (15) and tighten clamp (14) to the engine.

  1. Install fuel line (13) to the engine and tighten clamp (12) .

  1. Turn valve (11) in order to shut off fuel supply to the engine.

  1. Install the engine and the pumps. Turn on the fuel supply valve from the bottom of the fuel tank.

  1. Install two heater hoses (10) and tighten two clamps (9) .

  1. Connect lines (8) and (7) to the air conditioning compressor.

  1. Install hose (6) and tighten clamp (5) .

  1. Install bottom guard (4) to the machine. Install four washer and bolts (3) to bottom guard (4) .

  1. Install guard (2) to the machine. Install six washers (1) and bolts to the engine guard (2) .

  1. Install the radiator. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Radiator - Remove and Install".
  2. Install the hydraulic oil cooler. Refer to Disassembly and AssemblySENR6776"Remove and Install Hydraulic Oil Cooler".
  3. Install the batteries. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Batteries - Remove and Install".
  4. Install the muffler. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Muffler - Remove and Install".
  5. Install the hood. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hood - Remove and Install".
  6. Separate the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
  7. Refill the hydraulic tank with oil. Refer to Operation and Maintenance ManualSEBU6868"Remove and Install Hydraulic Oil Cooler".
  8. Refill the fuel tank. Refer to Operation and Maintenance ManualSEBU6868"Remove and Install - Fuel Tank".
