Start By:

  1. Separate the transmission and the bevel gears. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Transmission and Bevel Gears - Separate" for the machine that is being serviced.
  2. Remove the transmission hydraulic control valves. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Transmission Hydraulic Control Valve - Remove" for the machine that is being serviced.

  1. Put the transmission into position on Tooling (A), as shown. Remove two magnetic sensors (not shown) from the bevel gear case.

  1. Fasten a hoist and two 8 mm forged eyebolts to housing assembly (1). Support the weight of the housing assembly and remove snap ring (2) by using Tooling (B) .

  1. Remove the six bolts and manifold assembly (3) from the planetary group.

  1. Remove ring (4) and bearing (5) from the manifold assembly.

  1. Remove housing assembly (6). Remove the piston from the housing assembly. Remove the rings from the piston.

  1. Remove two rings (7) from the carrier.

  1. Remove three plates (8) and three discs (9) .

  1. Remove gear (10) from the planetary group.

  1. Compress ring (2) by using Tooling (C) .

  1. Remove housing assembly (2) and coupling (11) as an assembly.

  1. Remove pin (13) and ring (12) from housing assembly (2) .

  1. Use a press and Tooling (D) in order to compress the spring in housing assembly (2). Use Tooling (B) and remove snap ring (14). Slowly release the spring tension by using the press.

  1. Remove spacer (15), spring (16), and piston (17) from the housing assembly.

  1. Remove the rings from piston (17) .

  1. Remove coupling (11) from housing assembly (2) .

  1. If necessary, remove pin (18) from housing assembly (2) .

  1. If necessary, remove dowel (19) from housing assembly (2) .

  1. Remove five discs (21) and four plates (20) from gear (10) .

  1. Remove the ring and plate (22) from gear (10) .

  1. Remove three springs (24) from the rods.

  1. Remove four discs (25) and four plates (26) .

  1. Remove shaft assembly (27) and the carrier as an assembly.

  1. Use Tooling (B) and remove snap ring (28). Remove gear (29) and the spacer from the shaft assembly.

  1. Remove pin (21) from the gear by using a hammer and a punch.

  1. Remove plate (30) .

  1. Remove snap ring (32) from the shaft assembly by using Tooling (B). Remove hub (33) from shaft assembly (27) .

  1. Remove shaft assembly (27) and gear (34) from the carrier.

  1. If necessary, remove bearings (35) from each end of shaft (27) .

  1. Remove bearing (36) from carrier (37) .

  1. Use ten 3.175 mm (0.1250 inch) roll pins (38) in order to compress the ring that holds carrier (37) in position in gear (39). Separate the carrier from the gear. Remove the ring from the carrier.

  1. Push pin (40) in the shaft (42) by using a hammer and a punch. Remove the shaft from the carrier.

  1. Remove gear (41). Remove discs (43) and (45) from the carrier. Remove bearing (44) from the gear.

  1. Remove pin (40) from shaft (42) .

  1. Remove housing assembly (46). Remove pistons (47) from each side of the housing assembly.

  1. Remove the rings from the pistons.

  1. Remove five plates (48) and five discs (49) .

  1. Remove gear (50) and plate (51) .

  1. Remove springs (53) and rods (52) .

  1. Remove five discs (54) and five plates (55) .

  1. Remove shaft (56), carrier assembly (57), and gear (58) as an assembly.

  1. Remove plate (59) from gear (58) .

  1. Remove the shaft and gear assembly (60) from the carrier.

  1. Remove snap ring (61) from gear assembly (60) by using Tooling (B) .

  1. Remove gear (62) and bearing (63) from the gear assembly.

  1. Remove dowel (64) that holds gear assembly (60) to shaft (56). Remove the gear assembly from the shaft.

  1. Use ten 3.175 mm (0.1250 inch) roll pins (65) in order to compress the ring that holds carrier (57) in position in gear (58). Separate the carrier and the gear.

  1. Remove the ring from the carrier.

  1. Push pins (67) in the shafts (66) by using a hammer and a punch.

  1. Remove shafts (66) and gears (68). Remove discs (69) and (71) from carrier (57) .

  1. Remove pin (67) from the shaft.

  1. Remove bearing (70) from gear (68) .

  1. Remove housing (73) from the cover assembly.

  1. Remove snap ring (75) from the housing by using Tooling (E) .

  1. Remove shaft (76) and bearing (74) from the housing as an assembly.

  1. Remove ring (77) from shaft (76) .

  1. Remove snap ring (78) from the shaft by using Tooling (B). Remove bearing (74) .

  1. Remove snap ring (79) by using Tooling (B) .

  1. Remove carrier assembly (80) from the housing.

  1. Remove ring (81) from carrier assembly (80) .

  1. If necessary, remove bearing (82) from carrier assembly (80) .

  1. Push the pins in shafts (83) by using a hammer and a punch. Remove the shafts from carrier assembly (84). Remove the pins from the shaft.

  1. Remove discs (87) and (88) from the carrier assembly.

  1. Remove bearings (86) and (89) from gears (85) .

  1. Remove piston (91) from housing (73). Remove the rings from the piston.

  1. Remove snap ring (90) from housing (73) by using Tooling (E) .

  1. Remove bearing (92) from the housing.
