Installation Procedure

Personal injury or death can result from falling track. Separating a track can cause the track to fall too fast. Before doing any service work which requires separating a track, a thorough inspection of the front track roller frame must be made. The tractor must be on a hard, level surface before the track roller frame is removed. See Special Instruction SMHS8273 for further information.

1. Install seal (2) on pivot shaft (1). Install the seal so that the larger diameter is toward the outside of the machine.

2. If the bearings were removed from the track roller frame, lower the temperature of the bearings.

3. Install inside bearing (3) by using Tooling (A) until the bearing is seated in the track roller frame. The inside diameter must be 88.744 ± 0.084 mm (3.4939 ± 0.0033 inch) after installation.

4. Install outside bearing (4) by using Tooling (B) until the bearing is seated in the track roller frame. The inside diameter of the bearing must be 69.856 ± 0.134 mm (2.7502 ± 0.0053 inch).

5. Fasten a hoist to track roller frame (6), as shown. Put the track roller frame in position on the pivot shaft. Install retainer (5) and the bolts in order to hold the track roller frame in place on the pivot shaft.

6. Align the track roller frame with the equalizer bar. Install pin assembly (7) .

7. Install bolt (8) in order to hold pin assembly (7) in position.

8. Remove the shims at location (X) between the equalizer bar and the main frame.

9. Install O-Ring seal (10) on retainer (9). Put clean oil on the O-Ring seal.

10. Install retainer (9) on the track roller frame.

11. Lift the machine from Tooling (D) by using Tooling (C). Remove Tooling (D) and lower the machine to the ground.

12. Fill the pivot shaft compartment with oil to the correct level. See the Maintenance Guide.

End By: Connect the tracks. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Tracks - Connect" for the machine that is being serviced.
