Connection Procedure

1. Put the track into position under the track roller frame.

2. Use Tooling (A) in order to lift the machine off Tooling (B) .

3. Remove Tooling (B). Use Tooling (A) and lower the machine onto the track.

4. Fasten a chain to track (1) and the other end to a similar machine. Use the wheel loader and pull track (1) over front idler (3) and carrier roller (2) .

5. Pull track (1) until the track bushings engage with the sprocket segments (4) on the final drive.

6. Start the machine. Turn the final drive in a reverse direction in order to pull the track together.

7. Remove the chain from the track.

8. Align the lower part (6) with the upper part (5) of the master link. The separations of both ends of the master link must be engaged.

9. Put 2P-2506 Thread Lubricant on the threads, the shaft, and the washer face of bolts (7) .

10. Put master shoe (8) into position on the master link and install four bolts (7) that hold the master link together. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 170 ± 40 N·m (120.0 ± 30 lb ft). Tighten the bolts for an additional 180 ± 5°.

11. Tighten relief valve (9) and fill valve (10) .

12. Adjust the track in the following manner.

    Note: Perform the track adjustment under normal operating conditions. The packing must NOT be removed from the track if packing conditions exist on the job.

    1. Drive the machine forward. Allow the machine to stop without the use of the brakes.

    2. Put 5P-0960 Multipurpose Grease in the track adjuster through the fill valve (10). Move the front track roller frame forward until the track is tight.

    3. To get dimension (X), measure the distance between the front track roller frame and the rear track roller frame.

    4. Open relief valve (9) in order to release the tension on the track. Open the valve until the front track roller frame moves back in the rear track roller frame 6 mm (.240 inch). If necessary, move the machine backward and move the machine forward in order to move the front track roller frame backward.

13. Put the O-ring seal and cover (11) into position on the rear track roller frame. Install the bolts that hold the cover in place.
