    Note: The illustrations and the photographs are of the D6M Track-Type Tractor. Any major difference between the D5M and the D6M V-PAT Blade are noted.

    Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.

    Note: Clean all pins and bores in order to remove any dirt or corrosion before assembly.

  1. Loosen four bolts (F) on the back of block assembly (H). The four bolts are located on the back side of C-frame (J). Remove two spacers (G) .

  1. Reposition spacers (G) in front of block assembly (H) .

  1. Hand tighten four bolts (F) .

    Note: Spacers (G) may already be located in front of block assembly (H) as a result of previous adjustment.

  1. Raise C-frame (J). Place 203.2 mm (8.0 inch) blocking (R) under the center of the C-frame. Lower C-frame (J) onto blocking (H) .

  1. Remove bolts (15), washers (16), locknuts (17) and clamps (14) from tilt cylinder (8) .

  1. Remove bolts (12), washers (13) and guard assembly (11) from tilt cylinder (8) .

  1. Disconnect the hydraulic hose from cylinder (8). Use a suitable container in order to collect any oil that may drain from the holes or the cylinder. Cap the hose and plug the cylinder ports in order to prevent foreign material from entering the hydraulic system.

  1. Remove the bolts, the washers, the retainer and the pin in order to free the rod end of cylinder (8) .

    Note: There is one spacer above the rod end and one spacer below the rod end. The spacers will be reused for assembling the blade.

  1. Remove bolts (3), cap (4) and shims (1) .

  1. Install eyebolt (C) on pin (5). Use a hoist and eyebolt (C) in order to remove pin (5). If necessary, use Tooling (T), (U), (V), (W), (X) and (Y) in order to remove pin (5) .

  1. Use the hoist in order to remove cylinder (8) .

  1. Attach a suitable lifting device to the top corners of the blade. Remove any slack from the lifting equipment.

  1. Remove spacer (6) from C-frame (J) .

  1. Install puller (W) in the threads of pin (7) .

  1. Install cylinder (V), washer (U) and fast runner nut assembly (T) to puller (W) .

  1. Hand tighten fast runner nut assembly (T) .

  1. Connect the hose from hydraulic pump group (Y) to cylinder (V) .

  1. Insert wedges (X) between the blade, the bracket, and the C-frame .

  1. Use the hydraulic pump and the cylinder in order to raise the pin.

    Note: Raise the cylinder fully and lower the cylinder rod. Hand tighten the nut. Raise the cylinder. Continue this procedure until the pin is free to be removed by hand.

  1. Remove the rod end of one of the angle cylinder from the blade.

    Note: There is one spacer above the rod end and one spacer below the rod end. The spacers will be reused for assembling the blade.

  1. Repeat Step 20 on the other side of the blade.

  1. Remove pin retainer (K) and pin (L) from block (H) .

    Note: There is one spacer above the link assembly and one spacer below the link assembly. The spacers will be reused for assembling the blade.

  1. Remove the blade from the C-frame.
