(1) Fuel injection nozzle (2) Seal (3) Cap (4) Spacer (5) Gasket |
(1) Tighten the fuel injection nozzle to the following torque. ... 81 N·m (60 lb ft)
Note: When a fuel injection nozzle is installed, new seals (2) and gasket (5) should be installed. If the old gasket (5) and seal (2) is not removed, the projection of the nozzle will be incorrect. Do not reuse the old gasket or the old seal.
Note: Before a new fuel injection nozzle is installed, soak the nozzle in a light oil. Calibration fluid can be used. Heat the oil to a temperature of 50 to 60 °C (122 to 140 °F). The oil will remove anti-corrosion material from the nozzle.
Bench test the fuel injection nozzles at a temperature of 18 to 20 °C (64 to 70 °F). Refer to the Systems Operations, Testing and Adjusting Module, "Fuel Injection Nozzle - Test" topic for additional information on testing the fuel injection nozzles.
Note: Use clean SAE J-967 oil (ISO 4113) when you are conducting the test. The oil is available in 5 gallon containers ( 6V-6068 Calibration Fluid ) and 55 gallon containers ( 6V-6067 Calibration Fluid ). If dirty oil is used for the test, the components of the fuel injection nozzle will be damaged.
Testing specifications
