Start By:
- Connect the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
- Release the pressure in the hydraulic system. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hydraulic System Pressure - Release".
- Remove the hood. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, SENR6764, "Hood - Remove and Install".
- Remove the seat. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Seat - Remove and Install".

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |

At operating temperature, the engine coolant is hot and under pressure. Steam can cause personal injury. Check the coolant level only after the engine has been stopped and the fill cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. Remove the fill cap slowly to relieve pressure. Cooling system conditioner contains alkali. Avoid contact with the skin and eyes to prevent personal injury. |

Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil. Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system. Make sure all of the attachments have been lowered, oil is cool before removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. |

- Drain the coolant into a suitable container.
- Drain the hydraulic tank into a suitable container.

- Remove rubber floormat (1) from the cab.

- Remove the door to box (6) .

- Remove two bolts (7) from the inside of box (6). Remove box (6) from the cab.

- Loosen three nuts (11), (12) and (13). Remove handles (8), (9) and (10) .

- Remove two bolts (15) from cover (14) .

- Remove bolts (16) from cover (14). Remove hand knob (17). Remove cover (14) from the cab.

Note: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires, and on all tubes. This will aid in installation.
Note: Plug and cap all hoses, all lines, all tubes and all openings. This will help to prevent fluid loss and this will help to keep contaminants from entering the system.
- Remove two bolts (21) and the washers from manifold (20). Lower manifold (20) and the hose assemblies (18) and (19) through the floor of the cab.

- Disconnect brake cable (22). Lower brake cable (22) through the floor of the cab.

- Remove five hose assemblies (23) from the steering metering pump.

- Disconnect two wiring assemblies (24) .

- Remove clip (25) and the pin in order to release the throttle linkage. Remove two bolts (26) .

- Disconnect six wiring assemblies (28) and disconnect two wiring assemblies (29) that are located under the cab.

- Remove nut (30) and the washer. Remove wires (31) from the grounding stud.

- Remove cotter pin (33) and the pin. Remove brake cable (32) from the brake.

- Remove bolts (34) and the washers. Remove guard (35) .

- Remove retainer clip (36) from brake cable (32). Remove brake cable (32) from the coupler. Lower brake cable (32) through the floor of the cab.

- Loosen clamps (38). Remove heater hoses (37) from the engine.

- Remove clamps (39) from hoses (37). Release the clips from hoses (40). Pull hoses (37) and (40) from the fire wall.

- Attach Tooling (A) to the four lifting points on the top of the cab, as shown. Fasten a hoist and suitable lifting straps to Tooling (A) .

- Remove two bolts (41) and the washers that are located inside the cab.

- Remove two bolts (42) and the washers.
Note: Make sure that all hose assemblies and all electrical connectors have been disconnected prior to the removal of the cab.
- Use the hoist to carefully remove the cab. The weight of the cab is 544 kg (1200 lb).
