Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |

- Park the machine on a hard, level surface. Stop the engine before you check the hydraulic system oil level. Allow the oil to cool for five minutes before you check the hydraulic system oil level.
- Remove dipstick (1) . The oil level should be between the "ADD" mark and the "FULL" mark on dipstick (1) .
- If the oil level is low, add hydraulic oil.
- Remove hydraulic oil filler cap (2) .
- Add the correct type of hydraulic oil. Add hydraulic oil until the hydraulic system oil level is between the "ADD" mark and the "FULL" mark on dipstick (1) .
Note: See Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lubricant Viscosities" for the correct type of hydraulic oil.
- Clean the hydraulic oil filler cap (2) . Install hydraulic oil filler cap (2) .
- Remove dipstick (1) . Maintain the oil level between the "ADD" mark and the "FULL" mark on dipstick (1) .
