Droop - Droop represents a decrease in rpm from high idle at no load to full load operation.
The 3161 Governor is standard equipment on G3500 Industrial Engines. This is a hydromechanical governor that is capable of isochronous operation. In addition to isochronous operation, the governor can be externally adjusted to eight percent droop. A manual speed control is standard. Pneumatic speed control and electric remote speed controls are available.
Woodward 2301A Speed Control Governor
The 2301A Speed Control Governor is standard for the G3500 Generator Set Engines and optional for the G3500 Industrial Engines. This is an electric isochronous governor (with droop adjustment) that drives an EGP3 Actuator. The governor is used mainly for standby operation and for stand alone operation. When the generator set is operated parallel to a utility, the governor can only control the engine in droop mode. In isochronous mode, the governor must have additional components in order to share a load with another unit or with a utility.
Woodward 2301A Load Sharing Governor
The 2301A Load Sharing Governor is an electric isochronous governor with speed droop that can be adjusted. This governor is specifically designed to divide the load between parallel generators. The sharing of the load is automatic and proportional. The isochronous speed is maintained. The governor can be used for applications that are either a single unit or a multiple unit. The governor can also be used in standby mode.
The 701A Governor is for use when the governor must be integrated with controllers. The controllers combine operations with the following devices:
- Automatic parallel devices
- Automatic loading devices
- Export/import controllers
For satisfactory performance, different governor gains are required for each mode of operation. The governor has provisions for multiple gain settings. Multiple gain settings allow the governor adjustments and engine performance for the various modes of operation to be optimized.
This governor is recommended for applications when the following two conditions occur:
- The installation involves a device that can automatically parallel the generators.
- The generator set is operated in parallel to a utility when a load is transferred.
The ProAct governor is a digital control system with an electrically powered actuator. The actuator is directly coupled to the throttle. The control has two complete sets of dynamic adjustments in order to assist operation under different conditions such as dual fuel and/or parallel to stand alone electrical power generation. The control can operate in isochronous mode or droop mode.
