(1) Plug
Remove the plug in order to prime the pump.
(2) Plug
The plug is installed in the water inlet to the pump. The zinc rod and the plug are installed in the water outlet at this location. Assemble the zinc rod in the plug according to the following procedure.
- Put 9S-3263 Thread Lock Compound on the shoulder of the rod. Do not put the sealant on the threads of the rod.
- Tighten the rod in the plug to the following torque:

(3) Seal
Apply clean engine oil on the lip of the seal. Install the seal as the seal is shown.
(4) Bolt

34 ± 4 N·m (25 ± 3 lb ft)
(5) O-ring seal
Apply clean engine oil to the seal prior to assembly.
(6) O-ring seal
Apply clean engine oil to the seal prior to assembly.
(7) Nut
- Torque ...
140 to 200 N·m (103 to 148 lb ft)
(8) O-ring seals
Apply clean engine oil on the lip of the seal prior to assembly.
(9) Nut
- Apply 7M-7456 Compound to the threads of the nut.
- Tighten the nut to the following torque:

160 to 200 N·m (118 to 148 lb ft)
If the cotter pin can not be installed, turn the nut clockwise until the nearest slot in the nut is in alignment with the hole in the shaft.
(10) Shims
- Install the shims in order to get the following clearance between the port plate and the impeller. ...
0.18 to 0.23 mm (0.007 to 0.009 inch)

(11) Seal assembly
- Put clean water inside the seal assembly.
- Use hand pressure in order to install the seal assembly on the shaft. Press the seal until the carbon face of the seal assembly makes contact with the shiny face of the ceramic seal.
(12) Ring and water seal
- Put clean water on the seal and the ring.
- Use hand pressure in order to install the seal assembly on the shaft. Press the seal until the carbon face of the seal assembly makes contact with the shiny face of the ceramic seal.
(13) Collar
Apply 4C-9507 Retaining Compound between the shaft and the collar.
