Tanks (Color Marking) |
There are two tanks for the paint that are located on each side of the felling link. The tanks are filled through the filler caps.

Solenoid Valves for the Color Marking System The cover has been removed. |
A solenoid valve withdraws paint from the tank via a piston in the valve housing. There is a solenoid valve for each tank. The paint is pumped through hoses to a rail that is located on the holding arm.
When one of the solenoid valve is activated oil from the left manifold of the harvester head moves the piston. A pressure reducing valve on the housing regulates the pressure in the system.

The rail is located on holding arm (1) of the harvester head. The spray nozzles are located on holding arm (1). After the log is cut, the log is sprayed with paint.
The color marking system is controlled by the computer aided bucking system for the harvester head. The logs are automatically painted according to the settings that were programmed into the computer aided bucking system. The paint is sprayed onto the logs as the logs are processed and cut.
The color marking system will not operate properly if paint is allowed to dry. The nozzles may be clogged. The hoses that carry the paint may also be clogged. If a nozzle or a hose is suspected of being clogged, cleaning is required.
The piston inside the solenoid valve may also be clogged with dry paint. The piston needs to be cleaned.

Optional Locations for the Nozzles
Nozzles (2) and plugs (3) are located on holding arm (1).
The HH300/HH500/HH700 Harvester Heads have four ports on holding arm (1) for nozzles (2) and plugs (3).
Two of the ports in holding arm (1) will contain nozzles (2). The other ports are plugged.
The nozzles can be moved to optional locations. This can be done in order to accommodate different sizes of trees.
The nozzles should be moved toward the tip of holding arm (1) in order to mark larger trees. The nozzles should be moved toward the pivot pin of holding arm (1) in order to mark smaller trees.
