Description of Change: A relay and a new tachometer have been installed in the backhoe loader in order to disable the air conditioner compressor if engine speed falls below 900 rpm. The change will help to reduce stalling of the engine.

Adaptable To: The 3E-9362 Relay As is installed behind the instrument panel. The relay requires a new 172-3576 Tachometer. The changes are effective with the machines in Table 1. The change can be made to prior built machines. See the installation procedure.

Installation Procedure

1. Park the machine.

2. Remove the instrument panel.

3. Remove the tachometer.

4. Install the 172-3576 Tachometer into the instrument panel.

5. Install the 179-5771 Harness on the back of the tachometer.

6. Locate the harness with the 521-YL wire for the air conditioner compressor. The harness lies behind the instrument panel beside the hoses for the air conditioner. Remove 100 mm (4 inch) of braided material from the wires in order to expose the wires.

7. Locate the 521 yellow wire. Cut the yellow wire in the center of the 100 mm (4 inch) section.

8. Use the 1U-5804 Crimp Tool in order to place the 8T-8730 Connector Socket on each end of the yellow wire. Install the 155-2270 Connecting Plug Kit .

9. Plug the 3E-9362 Relay As on the 179-5771 Harness. Plug the connector on the yellow wire into the harness.

10. Install cable straps (2) in order to secure the harness (6) and the relay (1) to the instrument panel.

11. Install the instrument panel.
