Engine Crankcase Breather - Clean

Usage:

45 1DR


NOTICE

If the crankcase breather is not maintained on a regular basis, it can become plugged. A plugged breather will cause excessive crankcase pressure that may cause crankshaft seal leakage.


  1. Raise the hood. See Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Compartment Hood - Raise/Lower".

  1. Loosen breather outlet hose clamp (1) .

  1. Remove the hose from engine crankcase breather (2) .

  1. Unscrew bolt (3) on the top of the breather and remove the engine crankcase breather.

  1. Check the condition of the breather seal. If the seal is damaged, replace the breather seal.

  1. Wash the element and the breather cover in a clean, nonflammable solvent.

  1. Shake the element or use air pressure to dry the element.

  1. Install engine crankcase breather (2) and bolt (3). Tighten the bolt to a torque of 7 ± 2 N·m (62 ± 18 lb in).

  1. Inspect the hoses for damage. If necessary, replace the hoses.

  1. Install the hoses and tighten clamp (1) .
