- PMG3516 (S/N: JKK1-103,104-188,190-232,234-260,265-275,277-284,314-325)
Certain measures must be initiated to protect the original DEIF controllers on PM3516 and PMG3516 Power Modules. Some of the original controllers contain hardware that is less temperature resistant than newer controllers.
Diesel PM3516 Power Modules
On diesel power modules, set the engine cool down time to at least 10 minutes after continuous operation. The extended cool down time will reduce the temperature in the engine compartment. Also, the temperature will be reduced in the personnel access area where the DEIF controller is located.
Gas PMG3516 Power Modules
On gas power modules, rewire the radiator fan motor from the generator bus to the load bus. Also, update the DEIF software logic on the serial numbers listed above. The new software logic initiates full fan speed upon a load shed to maximize the airflow through the enclosure. The new logic also allows the radiator cooling fan to run upon shutdown until the jacket water reaches 55° C (131° F).
These updates will reduce the temperatures in the enclosure, protecting the DEIF controller.
