ENGINE NEWS, MARCH 7, 1979, PAGE 6.
The article "New Fuel Injection Lines Groups Use A Different Fuel Injection Nozzle Assembly" tells about the use of a new 7N9843 Fuel Injection Nozzle Assembly in place of the former 4N1251 Fuel Injection Nozzle Assembly. At the time the article was written, the new nozzle was used in all 3406, 3408 and 3412 Engines except truck engines because of emission control regulations.
The new 7N9843 Fuel Injection Nozzle Assembly is now approved, and is used in 3406 and 3408 Truck Engines in place of the former nozzle assembly. For this reason, cancel the last sentence of the above article.
--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------
Description of Change: New fuel injection lines groups are used on the above engines. The new lines groups use a different fuel injection valve nozzle assembly that gives longer service life. The new fuel nozzle uses a horse shoe shape spring retainer. Formerly, a split retainer was used.
Adaptable As: The new 7N9843 Fuel Injection Valve Nozzle Assembly can be used in place of the former 4N1251 Fuel Injection Valve Nozzle Assembly on the engines shown. The 4N1251 Fuel Injection Valve Nozzle Assembly is still available for parts service. The new 7N9843 Fuel Injection Valve Nozzle Assembly must not be used on Truck Engines because of emission control regulations.
