The oil delivery from the pilot pump flows through pilot oil filter (1) and into the components in the pilot system.

Filter element (2) in pilot oil filter (1) removes contaminants from the pilot oil.
The flow of pilot oil through filter element (2) may become restricted if the pilot oil is cold. Pilot oil flow may also become restricted due to contaminants in filter element (2). If the flow becomes restricted, the oil bypasses filter element (2) through bypass relief valve (3). Bypass relief valve (3) is built into the base for the pilot oil filter.
