Description Of Change: The Steering Column Group is now improved and will provide better reliability and service life on the machines listed above.

Note: This improvement does not include machines equipped with a Command Control Steering (CCS) wheel.

Adaptable To: The following part is adaptable to the machines equipped with a standard steering wheel (not machines equipped with a CCS Steering wheel) within the listed serial numbers, and is effective with all machines after the listed serial numbers.

1. Remove steering wheel. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly , "Steering Wheel (HMU Steering) – Remove and Install" for your specific machine.

2. Replace the existing steering column with a new 297-4926 Adjustable Steering Column Gp.

   Note: The updated steering column will have a revision level of 07 even though the part number has not changed.

3. Reinstall the steering wheel. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly , "Steering Wheel (HMU Steering) – Remove and Install" for your specific machine.
