NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

    Note: Refer to Special Instruction, REHS8231, "Removal Procedures for Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) Connectors" for the correct removal procedure of hose assemblies (4).

  1. Clamp off hoses (3).

  2. Remove clips (1) and (5). Disconnect harness assemblies (2).

  3. Remove hose assemblies (4) and hoses (3).

  4. Remove cable straps (6) and disconnect harness assembly (7).

  5. Remove bolts (8), plate (9), manifold (10) , and the gasket (not shown).

    Arrow indicates the direction to remove filter assembly (11).

    Note: To remove filter assembly (11) from manifold assembly (10) pull outward on tabs (12).

  6. Remove filter assembly (11) from manifold assembly (10).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install manifold (10) in reverse order of removal.

    1. Tighten bolts (8) in an alternating sequence to a torque of 5 ± 1 N·m (44 ± 9 lb in). Tighten bolts (8) a second time in an alternating sequence to a torque of 5 ± 1 N·m (44 ± 9 lb in).

    2. Apply Tooling (A) to the O-ring seal inside hose assemblies (5).
