Relief Valve (Torque Converter Outlet) Pressure - Test and Adjust

Usage:

D7R II ACS

------ WARNING! ------

Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil.

Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system.

Make sure all of the attachments have been lowered, oil is cool before removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.

----------------------

Introduction

The relief valve (torque converter outlet) maintains a minimum oil pressure in the torque converter.

Follow this procedure in order to adjust the pressure setting for the relief valve (torque converter outlet).

Test Procedure

  1. Move the machine to a smooth, horizontal location that is away from operating machines and away from personnel.

Note: Permit only one operator on the machine. Keep all other personnel away from the machine or in the operator's sight.

  1. Place the steering and transmission control in the NEUTRAL position.

  1. Engage the parking brake.

  1. Lower the attachments to the ground.

  1. Stop the engine.

    (D) Pressure tap for the torque converter outlet relief valve with label "TC-OUT"

  1. Attach tooling (A) or (B) to pressure tap (D) .

  1. Start the engine.

  1. Warm the power train oil to operating temperature.

  1. Operate the engine at HIGH IDLE.

  1. Fully depress the brake pedal.

  1. Disengage the parking brake.

  1. Place the transmission in THIRD SPEED FORWARD.

  1. The pressure should be 410 ± 70 kPa (60 ± 10 psi).

Adjustment Procedure

    (30) 5M-9623 Spacers

  1. If the pressure is not within the specified limits, install spacers (30) in order to increase the pressure or remove spacers in order to lower the pressure.

Note: One spacer changes the pressure setting by 16.5 kPa (2.4 psi).

ReferenceRefer to the procedures in Disassembly and Assembly, "Torque Converter Outlet Relief Valve" in the Service Manual for your machine.
