Removal Procedure

Start By:

1. Connect the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".

Accidental machine starting can cause injury or death to personnel working on the machine. To avoid accidental machine starting, turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position and remove the key. Place a do not operate tag at the battery disconnect switch location to inform personnel that the machine is being worked on.

1. Open the engine hood.

Note: Put identification marks on all wires for installation purposes.

2. Remove four bolts that hold hose clips (1) to the machine frame. Place the hoses aside.

3. Disconnect wires (3) from starter solenoid (2) .

4. Disconnect wires (5) from electric starting motor (4) .

5. Remove nut (6) and cover (7) from starter solenoid (2) .

6. Disconnect wires (8) from starter solenoid (2) .

7. Fasten a hoist and a suitable lifting sling to electric starting motor (4), as shown.

8. Remove bolts (9). Use the hoist to remove electric starting motor (4). The weight of electric starting motor (4) is 23 kg (51 lb).

9. Remove the gasket from electric starting motor (4) .

Installation Procedure

1. Install the gasket on electric starting motor (4) .

2. Use a hoist and a suitable lifting sling to install electric starting motor (4). The weight of electric starting motor (4) is 23 kg (51 lb).

3. Install bolts (9) .

4. Connect wires (8) to starter solenoid (2) .

5. Install cover (7) and nut (6) on starter solenoid (2) .

6. Connect wires (5) to electric starting motor (4) .

7. Connect wires (3) to starter solenoid (2) .

8. Reposition the hoses and install four bolts that hold hose clips (1) to the machine frame.

9. Close the engine hood.

End By: Separate the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
