D6M Track-Type Tractor Caterpillar

If the transmission oil pump fails, remove the transmission oil screens. Clean the screens. If the transmission is disassembled for any reason, remove the transmission oil screens. Clean the screens. Before you remove any screens, drain the transmission.

1. Remove the bottom guard in order to gain access to the transmission screens.

2. Remove the cover and the main screen. The cover and the main screen are located in the gear case.

3. Remove the plug (1), seal (2), spring (3), and the screen (4) from the scavenge line on the bottom of the torque converter.

4. Wash the screen in a clean, nonflammable solvent.

5. Inspect the seal. If the seal is damaged, replace the seal.

6. Install the plug (1), seal (2), spring (3), and the screen (4) in the scavenge line on the bottom of the torque converter.

7. Install the screen, the cover, and the bottom guard.
