Illustration 2 g03732909 View from oil side of the accumulator. - Use Tooling (B) in order to install piston (13) in the same end as the gas valve.
Note: Install piston (13) just far enough that cap (9) will push against piston (13) as cap (9) is installed. Doing so will ensure piston (13) is firmly against cap (9).

Illustration 4 g03732848 - Install accumulator (8) in a suitable device that will prevent the accumulator from rotating. Use Tooling (A) to install end cap (11) in accumulator (8) using the orientation marks established during disassembly.
Note: Do not use air tools to tighten end cap (11).

Illustration 6 g03732759 - Reposition accumulator (8) in order to install end cap (9). Use Tooling (A) in order to install end cap (9) using the orientation marks established during the disassembly.
Note: As specified in Step 3 end cap (9) should make contact with the piston as it is installed. This will insure the piston is seated against end cap (9) at the start of the nitrogen charging procedure.
Note: Do not use air tools to tighten end cap (9).
Show/hide tableIllustration 7 g03732744 - Install gas valve (3). Tighten the base of gas valve (3) in to the accumulator to a torque of
25 ± 5N·m (221 ± 44lb in) . Install bracket (4) to the orientation established during the disassembly. - Secure accumulator (8) in an upright position with gas valve (3) facing up. Fasten Tooling (C) onto gas valve (3). Refer to Special Instruction, REHS5464, "Accumulator Discharging and Charging Procedures" for the correct charging procedure. Charge the nitrogen to the following pressure
138 kPa (20 psi) . - With Tooling (C) still fastened to gas valve (3) release the nitrogen charge. Then charge once more to the following pressure
138 kPa (20 psi) . This purging process will help eliminate any atmospheric gas remaining inside the accumulator.Show/hide tableIllustration 8 g03732735 - Install cap (2) on gas valve (3).
