Main Hydraulic Pump - Install

Installation Procedure

NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contamination of the hydraulic system with foreign material will reduce the service life of the hydraulic system components.

To prevent contaminants from entering the hydraulic system, always plug or cap the lines, fittings, or hoses as they are disconnected. Cover any disassembled components and clean them properly before assembly.

Clean the hydraulic system properly after any major component exchange or especially after a component failure, to remove any contamination.

NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Position gear (32) and install bolt (31) .

  1. Position coupler (30) and install bolts (29) .

  1. Use two people in order to connect the steering pump and gear pump (28) to piston pump (25). The weight of the steering pump and gear pump (28) is approximately 41 kg (90 lb).

  1. Install bolts (27) .

  1. Attach a suitable lifting device to piston pump (25). The weight of piston pump (25) is approximately 141 kg (310 lb).

  1. Position piston pump (25) and install bolts (26) .

  1. Connect harness assembly (23) .

  1. Install clips (24) .

  1. Connect hose assemblies (22) .

  1. Connect hose (20). Tighten clamp (21) .

  1. Connect hose assemblies (19) .

  1. Position panel (14). Install bolts (15) and bolts (13) .

  1. Install seven bolts (12) .

  1. Attach a suitable lifting device to muffler (11). The weight of muffler (11) is approximately 13 kg (30 lb).

  1. Position muffler (11) .

  1. Position tube assembly (8) .

  1. Position clamp (9) onto tube assembly (8) and tighten nut (10) .

  1. Install bolts (7) .

  1. Position tube assembly (5) and install nuts (6) .

  1. Position tube assembly (5) and install bolts (4) .

  1. Position cover (2) and install bolts (1) .

  1. Fill the hydraulic oil tank. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lubriation Viscocities and Refill Capacities".

End By: Install the generator. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Generator - Install".
