Procedure
Adjustment Procedure Using Caterpillar Electronic Technician
A new hydraulic calibration procedure is used on the 320C Forest Machines that are equipped with Log Max HH700 and HP750 heads. This calibration procedure establishes new baseline controller settings to ensure proper operation of the Log Max heads.
The new calibration procedure is adaptable to the first production of the machines that are listed and equipped with 161-9407 Auxiliary Control Arrangement. The Auxiliary Control Arrangement is not serviced at this level.
Caterpillar Electronic Technician is utilized in order to access the diagnostic utilities within the machine controller.
- Access the menu option in order to calibrate the NFC PRV (EPRV).
Note: This procedure will prompt you for the low and high setting.
Note: The system default setting for the low setting is 1.5 Mpa. The default setting will not provide proper range of operation.
- Enter 145 psi (1 Mpa) for the low setting and accept the program default for the high setting. This will set the range of operation for the PRV.
Adjustment Procedure Using the Monitor
- Go to main menu (1) of the tool control and choose "Service Options" (6) .

- When the password screen appears, enter "FFF2" and then press button (41) .
- Press the down arrow button (37) in order to highlight "ECM SUMMARY" (11) .
- Press the right arrow button (37) in order to scroll to "CALIBRATION" (21) .
- Press the down arrow button (37) in order to highlight "GOVERNOR" (22) .
- Press the right arrow button (37) in order to scroll to "NFC PRV" (25), press button (39) .
- Press the down arrow button (37) in order to highlight "PARAMETER VALUE", press button (41) .
- Press button (39) in order to reset the value.
- With "MAX" highlighted press the left and right arrow buttons (37) .
- Go to "MIN" and reset this value in the same way that "MAX" is reset.
- Set "MAX" at 0 (425 psi) and "MIN" at -8 (155 ± 5 psi).
Note: After NFC PRV calibration, use the following procedure and values as a baseline for controller settings for the Harvester hydraulics.
Procedure for Changing the Controller Settings Using the Monitor
- While still in service mode, highlight "CONFIGURATION" (32) and press right arrow button (37) in order to scroll to "TOOL PROGRAM" (34) .
- Press the down arrow button (37) in order to highlight "TOOL #1". Press button (39) in order to shift the highlight to the side to "001".
- Press the right arrow button (37) in order to scroll to the parameter you want to change. Press the down arrow button in order to highlight the value.
- Press the left or right arrow buttons in order to change the value. Press button (38) in order to enter a new value. You will know if the controller has accepted the value when the blue highlight appears and the new value is displayed. Parameters 003-005 are set similarly from "TOOL PROGRAM".
- Exit the program by pressing the up arrow button (37) twice and the right arrow button (37). Press button (38) .
- Press button (41) in order to return to the normal running mode screen. The word LOGMAX should be displayed, plus the normal information of time and travel mode.
Configuration Setting
Note: "CONFIGURATION 101" must me set to "NACD HAMMER". "TOOL SELECT 001" must be set to "LOGMAX". Also, the "TOOL INDICATOR" (33) should be set to "ENABLE" (36).
