Engine Does Not Properly Share Load - Troubleshoot
- Check for maximum voltage between terminals 22 and 23.
Expected Result: The load sensing module is putting out a maximum signal.
Results:
- OK: Check the engine control module, the wiring to the engine control module or the engine. STOP.
- NOT OK: Go to 2.
- OK: Check the engine control module, the wiring to the engine control module or the engine. STOP.
- Check for unequal speed settings.
- Verify that the speed settings of all units at no load are identical.
Expected Result: Speed settings are equal.
Results:
- OK: Go to 3.
- NOT OK: Adjust the speed settings. If you are unable to adjust the speed settings, go to the governor Service Manual, Service Procedures, "Speed Setting".
- OK: Go to 3.
- Verify that the speed settings of all units at no load are identical.
- Check for unequal load gain voltages.
- Check that the load gain settings of all load sharing units are correct. See Testing And Adjusting, "Load Gain - Adjust".
Expected Result: The load gain voltages are equal.
Results:
- OK: Go to 4.
- NOT OK: Adjust the load gain voltages. STOP.
- OK: Go to 4.
- Check that the load gain settings of all load sharing units are correct. See Testing And Adjusting, "Load Gain - Adjust".
- Check the phasing of the transformer.
- Check the phasing. Refer to Testing And Adjusting, "Phasing - Adjust".
Expected Result: The phasing of the transformer is proper.
Results:
- OK: Go to 5.
- NOT OK: Correct the phasing. STOP.
- OK: Go to 5.
- Check the phasing. Refer to Testing And Adjusting, "Phasing - Adjust".
- Check for circulating currents between generators.
- Check for unequal power factors between generators.
Expected Result: The power factors between generators are unequal.
Results:
- OK: Properly adjust the generator voltage controls. STOP.
- NOT OK: Go to 6.
- OK: Properly adjust the generator voltage controls. STOP.
- Check for unequal power factors between generators.
- Check for isochronous operation.
- Place a jumper between terminals 15 and 16 of the load sensing module.
- Operate the engine. Manually apply the load while working in parallel with another unit.
Expected Result: The problem has been corrected.
Result:
- OK: Repair the wiring or the switch. STOP.
- OK: Repair the wiring or the switch. STOP.
