Introduction

The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.

Problem

480-6997 Window Wiper Motor Gp, 480-6998 Window Wiper Motor Gp, and 480-6999 Window Wiper Motor Gp may fail on the machines listed above. The failure is due to short circuit on the wiper motor, which results in concealed damages and stops working.

Solution

Caterpillar is aware of this problem, but an interim repair has not been defined. In case of failure, replace the failed part with the same new part.

If there is a failure, create a Service Information Management System (SIMS) entry for the failed part to generate a "Send-It-Back" (SIB) request. A SIB request will be issued to you through the SIB process after the SIMS entry is created. Submit the failed part and reference CPI number 429645 to SIMS.
