Usage:
3600 Family Of Engines
Description of Change: A new oil filter group, oil level guide group and contactor group are used on the 3600 Family of Engines. The new oil filler tube, part of the oil filler group, extends below the level of the oil in the sump to prevent the oil from spraying out when the oil filler cap is removed for adding oil to the sump. The new oil filler group also incorporates a threaded oil filter cap.
Adaptable To: The new 9Y9927 Oil Filler Group is a direct replacement for the former 1W0799 Oil Filler Group. The new 9Y9926 Oil Level Guide Group is a direct replacement for the former 1W0795 Oil Level Guide Group. The groups are adaptable to earlier engines with the following requirements and components.
The 9Y9927 Oil Filler Group is adaptable to earlier engines when all the new components are used. Use Chart A and illustration 1 to locate and identify the components.

The new 9Y9926 Oil Level Guide Group must be installed with the 9Y9927 Oil Filler Group. Use Chart B and illustration 2 to locate and identify the components.

Chart C identifies the locations the 9Y9927 Oil Filler Group and 9Y9926 Oil Level Guide Group can be installed on the engine.
The original oil level gauge assembly can be used with the 9Y9926 Oil Level Guide Group, however the accuracy of the oil level gauge assembly should be verified. New oil level gauge assemblies are also available. See Chart D.
Three new oil level contactor groups have been released for use with the 9Y9927 Oil Filler Group. The leads of the new contactor groups will exit the engine through the 9Y9924 Crankcase Side Cover for the new oil filler group instead of through the end of the oil pan. The new contactor groups can only be used with the new 9Y9927 Oil Filler Group. The new contactor groups are adaptable to all 3600 Engines except for those that are mounted with more than a two degree front downward angle. The earlier oil level contactors can also be used with the 9Y9927 Oil Filler Group.
The three new oil level contactor groups have the same components except for the tube assembly. Chart E identifies the three different tube assemblies, model usage and contactor groups. Chart F identifies the components that are typical for the three contactor groups. See Illustration 3.
