PROBLEM
Oil consumption on the existing power packs can be elevated to the point of detonation on certain G3516E, and G3520E Generator Sets. In order to allow equitable parts availability to all participating dealers, please limit your initial parts order to not exceed 12% of dealership population. This is an initial order recommendation only, and the ultimate responsibility for ordering the total number of parts needed to satisfy the program lies with the dealer. |
ACTION REQUIRED
If the engine has experienced more than four detonation shutdowns in 250 hours or less on a single cylinder, that single cylinder is subject for replacement under this Service Letter. A Product Status Report (PSR) must be generated from Cat ET showing the four shutdowns on a single cylinder within a 250 hour time frame. This PSR must be attached to the SIMSi ticket or the claim will be rejected. If there has been a pervious repair according to this Service Letter please reference the claim numbers when submitting a new claim. When the third cylinder meets the before mentioned failure criteria the remaining cylinders may be proactively replaced at that time. Refer to the Disassembly and Assembly manual for removal and installation of the cylinder pack. |
