Main Control Valve (Operator Monitor) - Calibrate

Usage:

824H ASX
The calibration procedure with the 4C-8195 Control Service Tool and the Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) will follow the same strategy. A text message that is displayed in the ET will be displayed as a numerical code on the Caterpillar Monitoring System.

Symbol for the Hour Meter

The "Clear" switch is used in order to step through the program in Caterpillar Monitoring System. The technician should toggle the "Clear" switch as the display for the Caterpillar Monitoring System shows the symbol for the Hour Meter.

The numerical code will use as many as six digits. The digits are divided into three fields with two digits in each field. For example, "_ _82_ _" represents the implement function. For example, "30_ _01", "31_ _01", "32_ _01", "33_ _01", "34_ _01", and "35_ _01" are the calibration modes for the solenoid valves. The first two digits represent the calibration submode for the main control valve. The last two digits are for the position in the calibration.

All of the calibrations for the solenoids on the control valve will be very similar. The main difference in the procedures will be the change in the movement of the control levers. The numerical code that is displayed on the Caterpillar monitoring system will depend on the implement function that is being calibrated. Refer to Table 1 for the correct calibration submode.

Table 1
Calibration Submode     Description of Calibration
30     Lift raise solenoid valve
31     Lift lower solenoid valve
32     Tilt left solenoid valve
33     Tilt right solenoid valve
34     Tip back solenoid valve
35     Tip forward solenoid valve

If you are unable to determine the cause of an error code, check for diagnostic codes or for hydraulic system problems.

Reference: For more information on determining problems with the hydraulic system, refer to Troubleshooting and Testing and Adjusting, "Hydraulic System Troubleshooting" for the machine that is being service.

Calibration Failure Messages

The numerical code will use as many as six digits. The digits are divided into three fields with two digits in each field.

Active Code

The first two digits represent the submode for the implement calibration. Use the last four digits of the code to determine the cause of the failure. The display will toggle between "30E002" and "30E009". The last two digits show that the program has stopped the calibration in that submode. At this time, the error must be repaired before attempting to finish the calibration.

Calibration Range is Too High

The first two digits represent the submode for the implement calibration. Use the last four digits of the code in order to determine the cause of the failure. For example, "30E105" indicates that the current is above the range that is allowed. The ECM ramps from low current to high current. If the blade does not show any movement, the error is displayed. The error will be displayed, if the operator does not press the "Clear" switch. The operator must toggle the "Clear" switch when movement is indicated. At this time, the problem that is causing the error must be repaired before attempting to finish the calibration.
