Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |

(1) Pressure sensor (2) Pump pressure solenoid valve (3) Flushing and cooling control valve |
This test will check solenoid valve (2) in order to determine if the solenoid valve is functioning correctly.
- Remove pressure sensor (1) from flushing and cooling control valve (3) .
- Refer to illustration 2 in order to assemble the following test equipment:
- Tool (C)
- Tool (D)
- Tool (E)
- Tool (C)

- Install Tool (B) into flushing and cooling control valve (3) .
Illustration 3 | g01074621 |
- Install the test equipment that is shown in illustration 2 onto Tool (B) .
- Install pressure sensor (1) into the assembled tooling.
- Install Tooling (A) onto fitting (D) .
- Start the engine. Depress transmission modulator pedal (6) and shift the transmission direction and speed control to first speed forward. Set torque control lever (7) to the MINIMUM position. Move all wheel drive control (5) to the MANUAL position. Release transmission modulator pedal (6). Run the engine at high idle. The pressure gauge should be at 5500 ± 700 kPa (800 ± 100 psi).

- Move torque control lever (7) to the MAXIMUM position. Watch the pressure gauge as torque control lever (7) is moved. As torque control lever (7) moves toward the MAXIMUM position, the system pressure should increase. When torque control lever (7) is in the MAXIMUM position, the pressure gauge should be at 35200 ± 700 kPa (5100 ± 100 psi).
- Repeat Step 7 and Step 8 with the transmission and speed control in first speed reverse.
- Stop the machine and shut off the engine. If the pressure from the all wheel drive piston pump is not correct, check pump pressure solenoid valve (2). Pump pressure solenoid valve (2) may have a faulty solenoid, a sticking valve or a worn valve.
- Remove the test equipment from the machine.
